Important Update from Church Army regarding Munch

Marylebone Project, 4 July 2025

Marylebone Project announces closure of social enterprise Munch after 12 transformative years

The Marylebone Project is set to close Munch, its social enterprise catering initiative that has empowered women who have experienced homelessness through culinary training and employment support for over a decade. Munch is sadly being closed on 4 July 2025 as part of a range of cost saving measures being implemented by Church Army, as the charity prepares to move on from the running of the Marylebone Project.

Since its inception, Munch has been more than just a food service. It has been a place of transformation. Professional chefs, dedicated volunteers, and the women of the Marylebone Project have come together in the Munch kitchen to prepare delicious, freshly made food – some inspired by recipes shared by the women themselves, reflecting cultures from around the world.

Through Munch, women gained real-world catering experience, industry qualifications, and the confidence to pursue independent living. From buffet lunches to large events and afternoon teas, Munch delivered across London’s Zones 1 and 2, building a reputation for quality food and a powerful social mission.

Miriam Kennedy, Centre Manager said: ‘For 12 years, Munch has proudly delivered 1:1 and group catering education to women who have experienced homelessness. More than just a food service, Munch has been a space of transformation – offering freshly prepared, delicious dishes across London while supporting women to rebuild their lives with confidence, skills, and community.

“To every woman who has taken part in the Munch programme: thank you. The strength, determination, and talent you have brought to the kitchen and beyond are truly inspiring. The skills you’ve gained will stay with you, and we hope Munch has been a meaningful step on your journey toward independent living.

To our customers: thank you for standing with us. Every order you placed helped change a life. Your loyalty has made a lasting impact.

A special thank you to Aderemi Amusa, our Catering Co-ordinator, and all TFG Volunteers who have been the heart and soul of Munch over the past several years. Your passion, care, and unwavering commitment to empowering women has been invaluable to the Marylebone Project and the women connected to The Sanctuary.

And to all who believed in our work and allowed us to share our hospitality with you: thank you. It has truly been an honour.”

The Marylebone Project remains committed to its mission of supporting women out of homelessness through accommodation, personalised support, and vocational pathways. While Munch closes its kitchen, its legacy will live on through the lives it has helped shape.
